5 Celebrities Who Homeschool Their KidsDanielle Sullivan
This week when news broke that Gwyneth Paltrow and husband Chris Martin are looking for a genius to tutor their children, Moses and Apple, some of us found the idea a little over-the-top. After all, five-year-olds might not necessarily need to be schooled in Ancient Greek and Latin. Yet most parents agreed that if we had the means, we would ideally love to give our kids a private education. Homeschooling is nothing new for many parents, including celebrity parents.
Check out these celebrity couples who have their kids homeschooled:
Will and Jada Pinkett Smith: Smith’s oldest son, Trey, attends a Christian high school in California, but the two younger children with Jada Pinkett, Jaden and Willow, are exclusively homeschooled. It looks like that’s working very well for them as both kids seem to be above their age level in smarts and maturity.
John Travolta and Kelly Preston: Before son, Jett tragically passed away back in 2009, both children Jett and Ella Bleuwere homeschooled. Ella continues to enjoy a privately tutored education and it is assumed that new baby Benjamin, born last November will be homeschooled as well when the time comes.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: The Jolie-Pitts have six children, including three that Angelina first adopted, and Brad subsequently adopted, as well as three of their own children. The couple view the traveling the world as more of an experience than sitting in a classroom. The kids are enrolled in the the Lycée program, a French schooling system which is taught to them by tutors and nannies.
Tom Cruise: Cruise’s children with ex-wife Nicole Kidman, Connor and Isabella, are homeschooled by his own sisters. Daughter Suri is also. Says mom, Katie Holmes, “She has a teacher who is with her every day. We like the one-on-one education.”
Mayim Bialik: The former Blossom star is more than qualified to teach her kids herself! She graduated from UCLA with degrees in neuroscience, Hebrew, and Jewish studies, and also has a PhD. in neuroscience.
