Despite the fact that former Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel is, for the first time, actually a housewife, she has put an end to the rumors circulating about her rejoining the cast for the fourth season of the Bravo show.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Bethenny officially announced that she will not be returning to the show, stating that she “doesn’t see any reason to go back.” Here are five reasons why we believe she made the right choice:
1. Her daughter Bryn
Ever since Bethenny and her husband Jason welcomed their first and only daughter Bryn into the world, the priorities of the formally single socialite have drastically changed- and rightfully so! This is a very special time for mother and baby; a time that should not be complicated by cat-fights, unnecessary drama, and ominous headaches.
2. The success of her spin-off show
Although The Real Housewives of New York is what originally propelled Bethenny into the spotlight, the 39-year-old mother of one has had no trouble keeping that light shining. Her hit summer spin-off series Bethenny Getting Married? reportedly premiered to more than two million viewers, earning the title of the highest rated debut for a new Bravo show. If her ratings alone rival those of the RHONY, what would she gain by going back for the fourth season?
3. It would be expected
Bethenny has been painted as a fame you-know-what since the moment she stepped in front of the RHONY cameras. She has been ridiculed for using the show as a platform to launch her books, margaritas, and whatever else the skinny girl happened to be selling. Given this record, one would most certainly expect Bethenny to return to the show to keep her exposure levels high. Rather than validating this assumption, Bethenny is showing her true colors by challenging what is expected of her. She has never been one to follow suit, so why would she begin now?
4. Her intuition
In her Us Weekly interview, Bethenny confesses, “my gut’s saying not to be a part of this cast.” Stick with your gut, follow your heart, and step away from the crazy housewives!
5. Quiet Vindication
Over the past few seasons, Bethenny has become known as “the underdog” of the group by many of her fellow cast mates. For starters, unlike the other housewives, she wasn’t married, she didn’t have children, and she buried herself in her work. What is more powerful than going from the underdog to the leader of the pack in one season’s timeframe? Walking away from that pack all together. Bethenny doesn’t need the RHONY. She knows it, the other housewives know it, and now America knows it. For once, the outspoken and blunt Bethenny doesn’t need to say a word. Regardless of whether or not she appears on the show, all eyes are on her. She deserves the opportunity to marinate in her underdog glory!
