Confession here: When it comes to jumping on the Sherlock and Benedict Cumberbatch fan wagon, I’m a little late to the party here! I only started watching BBC’s critically-acclaimed masterpiece a few weeks ago on Netflix, and since then I’ve been incredibly hooked!
Although I’ve heard about Benedict Cumberbatch’s incredible fandom from the celebrity blogs for quite some time now, it wasn’t until I saw him during an appearance on the Graham Norton Show that he piqued my interest. I’ll admit it — there’s something incredibly handsome and sexy about a man who just oozes intelligence and great style. I’m starting to go into that Cumby zone, and at this point there’s just no turning back, LOL. Yes, I’m Sher-locked for life.
Unfortunately, for us die-hard Cumby fans, PBS doesn’t plan on airing the next season of Sherlock until 2014, which just totally sucks. If you live in Britain though, it will air on the BBC sometime later this year. Sherlock first debuted in the UK during the summer of 2010, and since then has garnered strong worldwide buzz with the hipster and geek cool pool. And with the second season’s shocking cliffhanger, I might have no fingernails yet with the anxiety and anticipation this show has given me. I’m not kidding either, people!
Check out some of our Season Three photos below and five very strong reasons why I can’t wait any longer for Sherlock to air on television again while the BBC slowly kills me with this never-ending wait — and tell us, what do you think will happen during the show’s opening season episode?
Sherlock 1 of 5
If you're like me, you're probably still trying to figure out how Sherlock managed to not kill himself after jumping off the roof during the last season's finale, right? Well, I don't want to give away any spoilers here (as if I had them), but I do think Molly (who is totally in love with Sherlock on the show) had something to do with it. As if Sherlock would ever just voluntarily kill himself, right? I mean, we're talking about the most calculating man on the planet. Still, I'm interested to see how this is going to play out during Season 3's opening episode, where I'm sure Sherlock is going to explain how he pulled off one of the biggest stunts London has ever seen. The problem is, I can't wait until 2014 for that to happen!
The Best On TV 2 of 5
Let's face it, with the exception of Downton Abbey, Sherlock is the best thing to happen to television since the invention of the remote control. And I'm saying that because I don't think there's another show or series that has held my breath for a good 90 minutes or longer -- with me wanting even more at the end. And I'm just not talking about the acting or the stunts. Sherlock is incredibly stylish, modern with its twists and use of technology, and makes me just want to grab my passport and visit all the locations where Sherlock has been filmed so I can do my own little mystery or scavenger hunt.
Oh! I think I just gave myself an idea. How about we all head over to London and start a tour called the Benedict Cumberbatch and Sherlock Holmes Bus Tour? Complimentary scarfs included!
Stylish 3 of 5
Oh, there is no denying that Cumby is stylish! The suits, the long coat, that scarf, and that hair. Sherlock could really pull off being a Burberry model, couldn't he? And there's just something about Benedict Cumberbatch that makes clothes look very good on him. He's very statuesque and he carries himself well. Really, someone needs to get this man a part-time modeling career for Chanel or Armani. He would rock a runway well -- plus, Cumby is the quintessential British man and you can't get any better than that!
Watson 4 of 5
You don't know how many times I just wanted to give Watson a hug while Sherlock was being downright mean or dismissive towards him. Martin Freeman does such an excellent job playing the wounded, emotionally frail yet incredibly loyal puppy that always stays by Sherlock's side. The scene where Watson goes to Sherlock's grave and confesses his loneliness and how much he wishes Sherlock would just rise from the dead really sucker-punched me in the heart, if that's even possible.
Plus, Martin Freeman as Watson is just so adorable, isn't he? I want to give him a hug and a cookie. And plus, Watson is a blogger! That just won my heart right there.
Personal Questions 5 of 5
Even though we've had two full seasons of Sherlock, I feel like there's still so much more we can learn about him. Will he ever forgive his brother for setting him up? I also really want to know more about his family life and what makes Sherlock "tick." Sure, he can read you in 1.5 seconds and tell you exactly what you've been doing and eating and where you've been for the past six hours, but we know almost nothing about him except for the fact that he loves to "think" while playing the violin and is one of the wittiest, sarcastic, and highly intelligent men on the planet. I want the third season to dig a little bit deeper and tell us... is Sherlock a virgin for real?
