It seems like fans really can’t get over the fact that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have chosen a rather untraditional baby name for their newborn daughter. While many had their bets on Kai West or Kaidence Donda West, Kim and Kanye have decided to go with North West.
Yes, North West. That wasn’t a typo.
While I know what you’re probably thinking at this point (because it’s what I’m thinking, too), let’s take a moment and stop thinking about all the ways poor Nori (the nickname they will call her by) is going to be bullied and made fun of while in school, and let’s try to think of the positive that will come out of having a name like hers until that is, she decides to legally change her name on her own (which I’m sure will happen). Plus, according to Name Berry, the name isn’t so unusual after all:
North is a name that’s long been used, albeit very quietly, a name with a certain purity and strength. It’s a good choice if you’re from, say, Wisconsin or Maine, love winter or are an avid skier, or if you just want a name that’s both very familiar and very unusual.
Check out our six reasons why North isn’t a bad name after all below. And also, congratulations to Apple Martin for no longer having the worst celebrity baby name on Earth. You’ve been redeemed!
