8 Celebrity Mothers Who Have Changed Our World

Hilary Clinton

In celebration of Mother’s Day this weekend, we’ve decided to come up with a list of celebrity mothers out there who have definitely changed the world we live in. Because while it might still technically be a man’s world out there, it’s the mothers who rule it.

From Hilary Clinton to Sarah Palin and even Angelina Jolie, these women have reshaped motherhood as we know it and have done a pretty good job at that, too. These women have pushed envelopes, overcome boundaries and have had their voices heard loud enough for people to hear them say, “Hey I am woman, you better hear me roar.” And what’s best, is that they don’t wear any makeup while doing it and quite frankly don’t give a you-know-what about it.

Check out our photo gallery of the top eight celebrity mothers out there who have done a little something to piss someone off in their lifetime and are our heroes because of it. If it weren’t for these women, little girls out there wouldn’t be kicking butt with their male counterparts on the soccer fields or baking vegan cupcakes in hopes of one day starting their own business and becoming multi-millionaires with their domesticated talents. You rock, ladies.

And to all of you out there reading this, Happy Mother’s Day. Continue doing what you’re doing to help change our world to a better place for our kids.

There's a reason why Angelina Jolie is one of our favorite celebrity mothers out there. Not only is she a dedicated mom to her six children, but she's also a passionate humanitarian who travels the world to help those in need have their voices heard. She doesn't care if you don't like her all-black mom uniform or what you think about her hair. She's a mom, she's on a mission, and she'll travel to places around the globe that you've never even heard of before because this woman wants to make this world a better place for her kids. And for that, we admire her greatly.

Who says you can't be a single working mom? Candice Bergen was attacked by former Vice President Dan Quayle back in the mid-eighties for her portrayal as a single working middle-class mom on her hit television show, "Murphy Brown," calling her a poor role model. As I'm sure you can recall, the Vice President ended up eating a lot of old potatoes over his comments about that.

She wears a scrunchy and she couldn't care less if you see her out in public without makeup on. And there are a handful of foreign dignitaries and politicians who quite frankly she scares the shit out of. The country needs a woman like her to run this place.

Yes, women can cook, clean, and do the laundry and make a billion-dollar fortune while teaching the rest of us who to do it properly. Ok, so Martha Stewart might have made a few mistakes along the way but while no one is perfect, her apple pies sure are.
  • Salma Hayek 5 of 8

While some mothers love to debate on whether or not breastfeeding your toddlers at age four is a good thing, Salma Hayek could care less. She's too busy saving the world and breastfeeding those kids who are in need, just like she did back in 2009 when she breastfed an African orphan who was dying of hunger. I know it's been about three years since she's done that, but I still love her for her courage and ultimate selflessness and bravery as a mother and a hero.
  • Sarah Palin 6 of 8
    Sarah Palin
Love her or hate her, Sarah Palin is one tough cookie. Her critics have tried to pull her down endless times, but she only comes back up again fighting harder and stronger. And plus, I don't know about you, but this is one gun-wielding woman I wouldn't want to mess with.
  • Michelle Obama 7 of 8
    Michelle Obama
Not only is Michelle Obama the first African-American First Lady, but she's also perhaps the most real and down-to-earth public figure we've ever seen come out of Washington, D.C.. Yes, she shops at Target and White House Black Market, and yes, she wears cardigans and strapless dresses when she meets the Queen of England and goes to White House Balls. She goes to the gym, she's got killer guns on those arms of hers, and she's proud of it. We absolutely love her as both a woman and a mother.
  • Mia Hamm 8 of 8

Who says soccer is a boys game? Former Olympian and celebrity mom Mia Hamm not only kicks some serious tush on the soccer field, but has also established the Mia Hamm Foundation in part to support patients and their families who benefit from bone marrow transplants.
