While many parents out there are trying to avoid letting their children join social media networks, it looks like celebrity mom Teresa Giudice has no problem having her children tweet, share, and Instagram details about their lives, despite the fact that they’re under the age of 13.
Teresa’s daughter Gabriella has officially joined the Twitterverse with her own account this week, with the television star even promoting it on her own account and asking her followers, “@giudicegabby Follow my daughter Gabriella on twitter, be good to her please thank u. Love love love u!”
As I’m sure we all know, public profiles on social networking accounts are not only a way for fans to interact with their favorite celebrities, but for anti-fans to post some not very nice (and even demeaning) comments, too. In an age when bullying is a huge problem among children and pre-tween at not just their schools but online too, I’m surprised Teresa would encourage her 9-year-old daughter to join Twitter.
Tell us Babble readers, what do you think? What age do you think is “too young” for children to join sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram? I honestly will try to discourage my children from joining any sort of social networking site for as long as humanly possible. The only networking they need to do with their friends is outside in the fresh air.
