Reese Witherspoon Is Engaged To Jim Toth.

Over the holiday, a long list of celebrity couples have announced their engagements including leading lady Reese Witherspoon to boyfriend Jim Toth. Over the course of Witherspoon’s public life, she has been married to Phillippe and dated Jake Gyllenhaal for quite a while. With the recent announcement of her engagement to Toth, we look back at the history of this A-lister’s love life.

Before Phillippe, Witherspoon had been connected with Jason London, Stephen Dorff, Chris O’Donnell, and Mark Wahlberg, but it was Phillippe who she was with for almost a decade.

The Cruel Intentions co-stars got engaged in December 1998 and married in June 1999. The pair quickly started a family with the arrival of their daughter, Ava, in September of that year. Four years later, they welcomed their son, Deacon, in October 2003.

They split in 2006 and eventually divorced in 2007. Witherspoon was then linked to her Rendition co-star Gyllenhaal. They tried to keep their relationship under wraps, but it was Phillippe who later commented on it. “It’s bizarre,” he told USA Today in March 2008 of seeing photos of the couple.

Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal broke it off in November 2009 and after a few months of being alone, began dating Toth in February 2010. With the announcement of their engagement, the couple have only been dating for 11 months.

Witherspoon talked with Glamour about what it’s like dating someone who’s not a celebrity saying, “I have a little perspective on this. I wouldn’t say it’s easier. Every relationship has its own dynamic. And I don’t want to disparage any of the other relationships that I’ve had that were meaningful and wonderful. But what I’m finding out is that it’s very comfortable to be with somebody who understands my career, but doesn’t do what I do. He’s a great guy. He’s wonderful.”

Congratulations to the happy couple!
