There’s no point in denying it: Some women just snap back to their pre-baby bodies more easily than others. And when you make your living showing off the scantiest of outfits, it’s in your best interests to get the weight off as quickly as possible.
Just weeks after Alessandra Ambrosio gave birth to her baby son, Noah, this spring, she looked as though she’d never had a belly bump at all (much less two – remember, she also has a daughter, Anja). But she tells People that it actually took a lot of work – and a very special motivation.
When Noah was just three weeks old, the supermodel got a call with the exciting news that she’d been chosen to model the $2.5 million “Fantasy Bra” in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. “I just wanted to scream,” said Alessandra, who was in the middle of a nursing session when the phone rang. “But I won’t lie; I was really worried. I was in total mother mode.”
To make sure she’d be fit enough to don the gem-encrusted lingerie set (which includes a 20-karat white diamond), Alessandra started doing yoga and walking for a month, working her way up to more strenuous exercises.
Over the summer, she says, “I was playing volleyball on the beach, swimming and running after my kids.”
And then there’s that uniquely Mom Weight-Loss Technique: “[B]reastfeeding always helps!”
(Of course, that’s not always the case for everyone. Lots of celeb moms have weighed in on whether nursing their babies helped them drop the pounds.)
Unfortunately, maintaining a flawless body also means sticking to a strict diet. Alessandra eats mainly fish, kale salads and green juices – an eating plan she maintained even during pregnancy. Treats are a rarity. “My daughter loves cupcakes so we’ll share – but only sometimes!” she tells the magazine.
The runway show is coming up fast (it airs December 4 on CBS), so it won’t be long before the model mom will be donning the expensive lingerie set. It includes a belt with more than 5,000 jewels, and Alessandra calls it “perfect for me….It’s very romantic.”
The name of the ensemble is “Floral Fantasy,” which is certainly appropriate. Having both the money for a jeweled bra and thong and the body to show it off is a fantasy for most of us!
