Alice Tan Ridley? That’s the question of the morning after last night’s America’s Got Talent, which was ruled, ruled, by a woman named Alice Tan Ridley — who just happens to be mom of Precious’ Gabourey Sidibe. Is talent genetic? Ridley’s performance seems to be proof. Sidibe’s mom easily moved past the audition process, and is heading to Las Vegas, for America’s Got Talent‘s next round.
So why haven’t we seen Alice Tan Ridley before? Her usual stage is the New York City subway system (VIDEO of her singing on the subway platform, below).
“Alice, millions of people must have gone back and forth on that subway over the 20 years. How come nobody signed you?” asked judge and fellow-celeb mom Sharon Osbourne. That’s a good question.
Last night Alice Tan Ridley sang Etta James’ “At Last.” In the video below, filmed in the subway system, she’s singing Glady’s Knight’s “Midnight Train to Georgia.”
