When Michelle Obama officially became First Lady almost four years ago, there was a lot of talk surrounding her wardrobe and what she wore and what she didn’t wear. And four years later, her closet is still a big subject among fashionistas from around the country who either love her looks, or frown upon what she wears.
I’ll admit that at first I wasn’t a big fan of the Jason Wu dress that she wore at the Inaugural Ball and all the sleeveless shirts, spaghetti straps and cardigans that followed. But slowly, I started to appreciate her style. Michelle after all admitted to getting some of her looks from some of our favorite stores including White House Black Market and buying her everyday pieces from affordable stores like Target (I mean, who doesn’t LOVE Target?). As much as she isn’t (in the literal sense), Michelle is one of us. As a busy mother-of-two, she loves to choose comfort over style sometimes and would rather wear relaxed ensembles than ones that she’d have to squeeze in with a good pair of spanx (we’ve all been there, haven’t we?). She does after all have the biggest collection of cardigans in the country (at least that’s what I think!).
But seriously, most of what Michelle wears looks like good finds you can get at a TJ Maxx on a good day without a big splurge. Check out our photo gallery and tell us, what do you think of Michelle’s First Lady style? Have the last four years been a hit or a miss, style-wise?
