It’s International Women’s Day! Let’s take a moment and stop talking about the mommy wars, who is breastfeeding and who’s not, and criticizing each other for carrying around last season’s Coach Bag (OMG do those moms scare me!) and talk about women who are making a positive impact in this world, shall we?
These days, when we think of Women’s Day, we hopefully think of all the awesome women out there who strive to fight for women’s rights and world peace and draw attention to the hardships displaced women endure in underdeveloped nations from around the world. Even though the first Women’s Day was first observed on February 28, 1909, it slowly became a Socialist political event that blended cultures primarily in Russia and the former Soviet bloc which lost its political flavor over the years and became a holiday for men to simply express their love for women (because no women ever said no to two Valentine’s Days back-to-back, right?).
Many celebrity mothers out there, including Charlize Theron, Salma Hayek, Tina Fey – and of course the mother of celebrity activism, Angelina Jolie – lend their voice to some of the biggest charities and events that help make this world a better place for not only you and me, but every daughter out there.
Check out our photos below of some of our favorite celebrity mom activists who put the capital F in Feminism and let us know what you think. And of course, Happy Women’s Day!
