'Angels' Plan to Stop Westboro Baptist Protests At Arizona Victims' FuneralsMichelle Lamar
The Westboro Baptist Church will picket the funerals of 9-year-old Christine Taylor Green and the other victims of Saturday’s shooting in Tucson. Funerals for the victims of shooter Jared Lee Loughner begin on Thursday. But the people of Tucson are planning to stop the hateful Westboro Baptist group.
CNN reports that one group is being “led by Romaine Patterson who saw Westboro Baptist protest the funeral of his friend Matthew Shepherd. People are signing up to wear giant angel wings’ that shield mourners from the picketers.”
The news network reports there are several Arizona “Angel” movements being formed, and that ” Volunteers will wear “8- by 10-foot ‘angel wings’ … to shield mourners from pickets.”
NPR reports state lawmakers are trying to fast track a bill in the Arizona state legislature to stop Westboro Baptist Church. According to NPR, “Arizona State Representative Kyrsten Sinema has drafted legislation that would require any protesters to stay at least 300 feet away.”
There are several groups on Facebook that have been creating to stop Westboro Baptist.
