Working mom, Angie Harmon

Actress Angie Harmon is distraught over her separation from her kids due to her work schedule. Harmon is currently filming her hit TV show, “Rizzoli & Isles” in Los Angeles while her husband and children are at home in Charlotte, N.C.

A move might help ease her guilt.

But Harmon will not uproot her kids, Finley, 7, Avery, 6, and Emery, 2, or her husband Jason Sehorn, even though she struggles to live and work without them.

In a recent interview with Good Housekeeping magazine, Harmon explains why she feels guilty:

“I’m a mess. I’ve lost 10 pounds since I got here. This is the hardest time in my life, for sure. When I feel like I’m not doing what I am supposed to as a mother, I will torture myself. I don’t know how to deal with it. I find some consolation in the fact that all mommies feel it. If there was a way to cure mommy guilt, I would bottle it and be a bazillionaire. It breaks my heart that I don’t see my daughters every day, don’t get to hug them and brush their hair.”

Still, throughout all the guilt and days away from her family, Harmon wants to raise her kids in Charlotte. She likes the family atmosphere: “There’s a church on every corner (in North Carolina) as opposed to just a Starbucks. The people are just a little nicer… more real.”

How do you deal with mommy guilt? What’s the longest you’ve been away from your kids?
