Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver announced their separation late Monday after “a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us,” the couple said in a joint statement.
They were together for 25 years! How sad is this news?
“After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer, we came to this decision together,” the statement said.
The joint statement said the two were working on the future of their relationship while living apart and they would continue to parent their four children together: Katherine Eunice Shriver Schwarzenegger, 21, Christina Maria Aurelia, 20, Patrick Arnold Schwarzenegger, 17 and Christopher Sargent Shriver Schwarzenegger, 13.
It was not clear from the statement if either of them will be staying in their Bretwood, Los Angeles estate or whom the children were with.
It doesn’t matter how old the children are when it comes to divorce; it’s a very painful and difficult situation for everyone involved.
We wish the family all the best.
