Awesome! New Wave Stars Turned Into Superheroes! (Photos)

Butcher Billy is rad. Very rad. This Brazilian artist has created one of the most unique, unusual and oddly awesome collection of new wave artists portraits, ever. Mr. Billy has married iconic new wave/ post-punk stars with popular superheros – like Siouxsie Sioux as Wonder Woman or Billy Idol as Aquaman -and the results are stunning. He said of his project, “Real people or imaginary characters, the incorruptible ideals of perfect superheroes or the human flaws and desires sometimes so desperately depicted in song lyrics.” Yeah, I’m not sure what that means either, but what I do know is that is art is amazing. Check out his genius here:

I am certainly "Spellbound," by this Siouxsie Sioux x Wonder Woman mash-up.

Ian Curtis of Joy Division as Batman? Sure. Why not.

The artist whipped up a good one here. Mark Motherbaugh of DEVO as Flash Gordon. Awesome.

John Lydon always seems a bit hot-headed, and here he is on fire as Firestorm.

So much like my dreams it's scary. Okay, maybe not, but this is still really awesome!

  • Robert Smith x Plastic Man 7 of 7

Robert Smith of the Cure is a way we have never, ever seen him. But fortunately, the lipstick and hair have stayed the same.
