While many moms out there might not know Jason Taylor‘s stats on the football field, they do remember him well from his stint on Dancing With The Stars a few years ago (and being one of the cutest ex-NFL players, there is no way we’d forget him, right ladies?). The retired Miami Dolphins star, who is now an NFL analyst, took the time out of his schedule to talk to Babble about some of the things he loves the most: food and his family! He and his wife Katina along with their three kids, Isaiah, Mason, and Zoey, enjoy home-cooked meals while he’s not away and are big fans of their dad’s original “Spicy Taylor” burger. Talk about having both skills on the field and in the kitchen!
Check out what Jason tells us below about cooking at home, living organic, and raising his family in Miami. Something tells me that this celebrity dad might just become a television chef one day, too!
What inspired your “Spicy Taylor” burger?
My burger represents the South and is the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. I start with a juicy Ball Park Flame Grilled Patty and then top it with pineapples and jalapenos for that sweet, yet spicy kick. Lastly, I top it off with a little Mozzarella cheese (a burger isn’t a burger without some cheese!) It’s the perfect representation of the South and it’s quite delicious. You can check out the video of me creating my Spicy Taylor Burger on the Ball Park Facebook page. Babble: What are some of his favorite quick-to-make game day feasts?
Jason Taylor: The best foods to eat on game day are the ones that are quick and easy to make, that’s why I love the Ball Park Flame Grilled Patties. They are ready from the microwave in about a minute – allowing me to enjoy a delicious, juicy burger without missing any of the games.
Babble: How often does his family have home-cooked meals versus how many times they go out to eat per week?
Jason Taylor: We generally cook meals 3-4 times a week at home, and eat out the rest of the time.
Babble: What are some of his family’s favorite snacks? Are they organic-obsessed like some other Hollywood families?
Jason Taylor: We do a lot of fruit, hummus, nuts, and vegetables. 90% of the food we eat is organic
Babble: How does he feel about raising his family in Miami?
Jason Taylor: Miami is a great place to live and raise a family. It’s all about the places you go and the activities you choose to expose your children too. Miami has a ton of things to offer. Miami is not all about parties!
Babble: What are some of the best reasons why you should raise your kids in Miami?
Jason Taylor: Some of the things we love about Miami are the weather year round. The beaches and waterways provide a whole other world and experience. Another thing we love about Miami is the fact that it is a very cultural diverse area. English has almost become the second language here to Spanish and it’s great to expose our kids to the Latin and Caribbean cultures.
Babble: What are some reasons why you shouldn’t raise your kids in Miami?
Jason Taylor: I wouldn’t change a thing!
