Kristin Cavallari is perhaps one of the most stylish celebrities out there who knows how to mix great fashion without sacrificing comfort, too. We’ve seen this California-turned-Chicago girl impress us on the red carpet while still maintaining her fashion-forward sense of style as a mother, too.
The Fabulist host recently sat down with Babble to exclusively talk about her favorite celebrity moms and accessories, and the worst fashion mistakes moms can make. Check out what she says below! Also, don’t forget to tune in to The Fabulist on E! on Monday, 8:30pm EST/7:30pm CST.
Kristin, how is this second pregnancy treating you so far? Have you been experimenting with any different maternity looks? Or are you looking for more comfortable looks whenever you are out and about?
It’s been exactly like the first pregnancy! I’m very lucky because I’ve had two easy pregnancies. When I’m home in Chicago, I’m all about comfort. I’ve been living in leggings for the past couple months. When I have the opportunity to dress up, I really enjoy it though. I’ve been getting dresses that are a size or two bigger instead of maternity clothes. I’ve also been wearing a ton of blazers with maternity tank tops so that I don’t have to buy too many new clothes.
Who have been your favorite pregnant celebrities as far as their personal style? Do you have anyone on your radar?
I loved Nicole Richie’s style when she was pregnant — very boho-chic. Victoria Beckham also looked great. I love when women play up the bump and embrace it.
What are the best accessories for mothers to wear these days? I know myself that I always had a hard time accessorizing because my children would pull on my jewelry!
I never wear jewelry at home since Camden pulls on it! I’m very simple when it comes to jewelry anyway, but when I go out, I usually have a couple rings on and a bracelet.
What is the worst fashion mistake a new mom can make?
To wear something that they aren’t comfortable in. Especially as a new mom, don’t try to squeeze into your old jeans just to say you can. Who cares if they don’t fit yet! You will get there. We have to remember how much our bodies went through and celebrate that instead of beating ourselves up about losing the weight.
Pregnant in heels: Do you really believe in that statement? Because I was more like pregnant in ballerina flats!
I do sometimes! Ninety percent of the time I am in flats, but I’ll wear heels to dinner or filming The Fabulist. I can tolerate heels for a short amount of time while pregnant … then it feels amazing to take them off!
