Belinda Carlisle Confession: She Drank Daily While Pregnant!

By Mara Siegler |

Go-Go’s songstress Belinda Carlisle had a killer career in the ’80′s combined with some serious problems including cocaine addiction, eating disorders, and an overall lifestyle that can be described as “rockstar” in the most detrimental way possible. She’s detailing it all in her new book Lips Unsealed.

The worst confession: She drank daily while pregnant with her only child, James Duke Mason.

“I didn’t notice and I didn’t pay attention,” Carlisle told Pop Tarts when asked what those around her said when they saw her, large bellied, sucking down alcohol. “I only noticed what I cared to notice. I didn’t really pay attention to what other people said.”

Nowadays, Belinda is clean and sober, which she credits in part to Buddhism. And she’s giving thanks. Not only was James fine, but she has made it through recovery, unscathed for the most part.

“Someone was looking out for me, I was protected. There’s no reason that after 30 years I never had a car accident, I never killed anybody. The fact that I never ended up in jail is unbelievable to me. I would just say that it’s the grace of God, with a little bit of luck.”

Not only did things work out with her son, but Belinda’s husband Morgan Mason stayed by her side through everything that happened within their 25 year marriage. “He’s a very evolved person and under all that, he always saw the person that he loved. He saw this divine person through all the crap,” she said. “We also had a son together and [didn't want to put him through divorce.]”

It’s cheesy, but maybe it’s true in this case: Heaven can indeed, be a place on earth.
