Bethenny Frankel, Alyssa Milano And More Celebrities Who Oppose Public Breastfeeding

Celeb moms who prefer to breastfeed at home

As we can all agree that breastfeeding is truly one of the most beautiful things in the world, not everyone is crazy about seeing other mothers do it in public. While some mothers feel that it’s a choice others simply feel uncomfortable unwinding their leche knobs out in the open.

While many breastfeeding advocates such as Mayim Bialik (who you remember as Blossom) and Alicia Silverstone like to breastfeed their children on demand, whether they are riding a subway or walking to their local CVS store, there are some celebrity mothers who don’t feel as comfortable doing it in front of a public audience. It’s not that they are against breastfeeding, it’s just that they prefer to do it in the privacy of their own homes.

I for one did not breastfeed my children in public. I was one of those moms who made it incredibly hard on myself that when my children screamed for food, instead of whipping out a boob (is that why whole milk cartons have red tabs on them?) I ran to the parking lot, got inside my car, put the AC on and breastfed in the back of our tinted minivan. Even in my home I took my child to a different room to breastfeed if we had guests over.

I wish I could be like Heidi Klum and go topless at an exotic European beach locale, but I’m not. I’m a prude American. Sofia Vergara would tell me that my bikini bottom looks like a diaper.

Check out our photo gallery of other celebrity mothers who feel that public breastfeeding might not be there thing and tell us, did you breastfeed in public? Or did you prefer to do it at home and pump a bottle-to-go instead?
