Bill and Giuliana Rancic Are Taking Diaper-Changing Classes!Shana Aborn
Parents-to-be Bill and Giuliana Rancic are taking no chances when it comes to making sure they’ll be ready when the big day arrives. They tell Us Weekly that they’re taking parenting classes that include tutorials in such important tasks as swaddling a newborn – and changing diapers!
“We’re getting prepped!” Bill says. “We’re getting it all in before the little guy comes.”
As their fans know, they’re expecting a baby boy via gestational surrogate (meaning Giuliana, not the surrogate, is the biological mother) in just a few weeks. In fact, the due date is so close that there’s a possibility Giuliana may not be there when their surrogate goes into labor. She’ll be in London, covering the Olympics for E! News, until the second week of August. So the couple is crossing their fingers and hoping that their doctor’s estimate of a late August/early September arrival is accurate.
In the meantime, they’re scurrying about to get everything ready before their son is placed into their arms. What’s their first step?Priority 1 is getting their new home finished – it’s in the final stages of construction – and set up. “[W]e hope to be moving in the next three weeks,” says Bill. “We have everything [for the nursery], but it’s kind of sitting there waiting to be put in. The nursery’s ready to go!”
But it’ll be a while before Baby Boy Rancic gets to enjoy his new room. The birth will take place in Colorado. Once the baby is ready to leave the hospital, the Rancics will be traveling by tour bus to Chicago, where Bill will spend the following two months preparing to open the new branch of his RPM restaurant. After the grand opening, it’ll be back to L.A. to settle into their home and their life as Mom and Dad.
“We’re so lucky,” Bill exults. “So many people have been pulling for us and following our journey. This has all been magical for us.”
Wait until they actually have their son – talk about magical! (Well, except for the diaper part.)
