It’s almost down to the wire as Bill and Giuliana Rancic await the arrival of their new son via gestational surrogate. That means it’s time to get serious about picking out a name!
Speaking to the Vail Breast Cancer Awareness Group on Sunday (as reported by People), Bill said he’s been looking at names of NFL quarterbacks and Fortune 500 execs for inspiration -
“no pressure,” he joked.
But Giuliana added that they’re open to the idea of honoring the state they’ve come to love – their surrogate is from Colorado, and the baby will be born there – by choosing a name like “Vail” or “Denver.”
Definitely out? An only-in-Hollywood name like “Pink Sky.”
The parents-to-be found that a lot of their fears about choosing surrogacy were eased when they met the woman who would be carrying their baby. She’s French, and has plenty of experience in handling children. Her location was also a plus.
“Clean living here,” said Bill. “I felt much better. The water – everything about this state – is great.”
For Giuliana, “it had to be Colorado or bust.”The couple will be staying in the Rocky Mountain State (most likely right after Giuliana returns from covering the Olympics in London) so that they can be there when the baby arrives in late August or early September. Then they’ll be traveling via tour bus to Chicago for a few weeks while Bill opens a new restaurant there.
Speaking to the group, many of whom are breast cancer survivors like Giuliana, Bill expressed gratitude to his wife for courageously opening up about her own experience. “[T]his little guy that we’re going to have has probably saved hundreds of women’s lives because he will have motivated them to go out and get checked and be proactive.”
We can’t wait to witness the next chapter of the Rancics’ lives!
