Bobbi Kristina Brown gave an emotional interview about her late mother, Whitney Houston, to Oprah Winfrey on the OWN network Monday night.
With her grandmother Cissy there for support, Bobbi revealed that although she enjoys singing her mom’s greatest hits, she can’t yet bring herself to listen to the famous recordings.
That doesn’t mean Bobbi doesn’t feel a connection to her mother. On the contrary, “I can hear her voice and spirit talking to me and telling me, you know, ‘Keep moving, baby. I’m right here. I got you.’
She went on to say, “She’s always with me. I can always feel her. I can always feel her with me.”
Whitney is making her presence known in other ways, too. Bobbi Kristina says that she notices the lights in her house go on and off unexpectedly. “I’m like, ‘Mom, what are you doing?'”
The famous daughter is also apparently looking for a different type of connection to her mother. According to TMZ, she wants to distance herself from dad Bobby Brown by changing her name simply to Kristina Houston. Friends say that Whitney wouldn’t let her do it while she was alive, but now Bobbi Kristina, at 19, is free to follow her own path.
What do you think? Is Whitney’s spirit protecting her daughter? And should the teen change her name?
