There has been a big controversy about young boys wearing nail polish. The whole spotlight on the topic came to fruition due to a J.Crew ad that showed J.Crew’s president and creative director Jenna Lyons painting her five-year-old son Beckett’s toenails a vibrant shade of pink. There has been mud slung from both sides of the aisle on the effeminate effect this could have one the young boy. But he isn’t the first preschool aged boy we’ve seen sporting painted nails. Gwen Stefani’s son Kingston has been doing it for ages!
On several occasions, Kingston has been spotted wearing nail polish from a neon yellow to match his kicks (see below) to a stylish goth-ish black. And no one got up in arms when they saw him sporting nail polish. Was it because it wasn’t pink? Was it because he has “rocker” parents? Regardless, they’re just kids. Can’t they just do what they want if no one is getting hurt?
