Brad Pitt Says Being a Dad Comes First: "We're a Normal Family"

Brad and Angelina

Despite being one of the top actors in Hollywood and married to one of the top actresses in Hollywood, Brad Pitt says being a dad comes first.

The actor and Angelina Jolie make sure that they schedule “one on one” time with their big brood:  Maddox, 10, Pax, 7, Zahara, 6, Shiloh, 5, and 3-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

Other than their fame and the millions of dollars they share, Brad and Angie are just like any parents.

“We’re a normal family, a mother and father, and the kids get unruly! The kids are fantastic and say the funniest things I’ve ever heard. The places they get to see they may not understand at this early age but it’s seeping into their consciousness,” he told Total Film magazine.

“But the most important thing for us is to make sure we carve out time for them, that we get group time and one on one time because it’s our responsibility to show them around and help shape them. So I guess the only thing I can say is that it’s fatherhood first, family first, and then I slip in the work.”

Jolie and Pitt are known for living like gypsies dare I say… hauling the children with them from country to country, cross-continent, for their work.  Pitt is currently World War Z in the UK.  While some might argue that kids who move around a lot don’t feel like they have a real home, Pitt says the nomadic lifestyle has many benefits.

“It works for us. The family becomes the core. The places they get to see they may not understand at this early age but it’s seeping into their consciousness,” he said.

“We’re in an international schooling program, so wherever you go, it’s the same curriculum.”
