Despite very recent rumors that rocker Bret Michaels got engaged on July 4, it seems Michaels is not, in fact, preparing for marriage. Contrary to the many tabloid reports, Michaels claims he is not planning to marry his on-and-off girlfriend of 16 years, Kristi Lynn Gibson.
Michaels says the ring he gave Gibson–who is the mother of their two children, Raine Elizabeth, 10, and Jorja Bleu, 5, is “a promise ring…a friendship ring, with benefits. That’s what we call it.”
The singer and winner of Celebrity Apprentice appeared on the CBS Early Show this morning to promote his new CD, “Custom Built,” and took time to dispel the marriage rumors. “No. We are not engaged yet,” he said. “We’re a work in progress.”
So they may not be walking down the aisle just yet, but we’re rooting for this pair. After Michaels played the role of bachelor a few times over on his dating show Rock of Love, it seems he’s finally ready to settle down with Gibson, who was by his side during his recent hospital stay following a massive brain hemorrhage. Hopefully that promise ring turns into a wedding ring!
