Brooke Burke-Charvet on the Effects of Her Pregnancies and Feeling Fab at 40!Shana Aborn
Brooke Burke-Charvet may come as close as it gets to having it all. She’s a newlywed (she and David Charvet tied the knot last August), a mom of four (and working hard to keep the blended family strong), a hard-working celebrity (Dancing With the Stars is still tops in the ratings) – not to mention a new entrant into midlife with the passing of her 40th birthday.
But even superwomen struggle with issues related to pregnancies, aging and other facts of life, and Brooke is refreshingly honest about discussing her own in this month’s issue of Prevention magazine.
For instance, during one of her pregnancies, Brooke developed melasma, a harmless mask-like darkening of the facial skin. Normally, it’s a temporary condition, but “I’m like one in 1,000 cases where it didn’t go away after pregnancy,” she says. “I went to the best doctors. I did all the peels. I’m hoping hormonally I’ll roll out of it.
“I use CellCeuticals SPF 55+ sunscreen, and I never lie out in the sun, which really stinks because I’m a sun girl.”
In the interview, Brooke also denies the rumor that she had a tummy tuck to tighten her midriff after four pregnancies.
“Posture has a lot to do with it – keeping your core engaged, whether you’re sitting, driving or working at your computer,” she says. “I’ve always done ab work, even when I was pregnant.”
Unlike many famous women, Brooke admits to having a little Botox work to keep herself looking good on-camera. But that’s as far as she’s willing to go, facially: “There’s nothing worse than that frozen ‘I’m 40 but I want to look 25’ look.” However, she’s also thinking of redoing her breast enhancements, which altered after breastfeeding four children.
But she has nothing but good things to say about her new decade: “Forty is better than 30,” she declares. “I have a better understanding of who I am, what makes me tick, what’s okay and not okay.”
Here’s to staying fab, Brooke!
