Cameron Diaz is a very busy girl these days! You can find her in theaters now in “The Green Hornet”, and she just wrapped up filming “Bad Teacher”. But there’s no time for her to rest anytime soon; she just signed to star with Colin Firth in a remake of the Ethan Coen-scripted “Gambit”.
“Gambit” is a 1966 British caper that originally starred Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine. The story involves a scheme to con a very wealthy art collector into buying a fake Monet painting. The London art curator responsible for setting up the con is played by Firth. Cameron Diaz’s character is a Texas steer roper who is recruited to help with the ruse. Her character’s grandfather is the man responsible for liberating the painting at the end of WWII.
“Gambit” is scheduled to begin filming in London this May.
Did you see the original “Gambit”? Are you looking forward to seeing Cameron Diaz in this remake?
