With Car Crash, January Jones' Life Takes a Betty Draper Turn

By AD Lynn |

january jones carThere’s no debate about who holds the title of my favorite TV mom. It’s Mad Men‘s Betty Draper, hands down, no bones about it. Sure, she’s a terrible mom and not much better as a wife (though she out-perfects her husband by a mile), but as played by January Jones, she’s got the kind of cool affect I can only dream of. Which is why January Jones’ car accident in L.A. last night was especially interesting.

The deets: last night January Jones crashed her Range Rover into three parked cars, allegedly after being chased by paparazzi. No drugs or alcohol were involved. According to, she then left the scene, saying:

“I can’t deal with this commotion.”

Oh, Betty, I’ve missed you! Of course, after voicing her disdain, Betty Draper would have fled directly into the arms of a grey-haired, mid-level government employee while leaving the kids at home with Carla the maid. The childless, unmarried (though rumored to be dating Adrien Brody) Jones, on the other hand walked a half-block to her home and promptly called 911. So much for the drama.

Remember Don Draper’s car crash in Mad Men Season 1? I’m going through serious Mad Men withdrawal and can’t wait for my favorite tortured mom and dad (you listening, Jon Hamm?) to return. The photo above is footage from last season on the Pasadena set. The new season starts airing in late July.
