Catelynn Lowell: Teen Mom Helped Me Decide My Career Goals!

Tyler Baltierra and Catelynn Lowell.

Catelynn Lowell has always been a little different from the rest of the Teen Mom cast. While many of her fellow young mothers have had tense relationships with the fathers of their children, Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra have stayed together and emerged stronger than ever. They’re planning a wedding for next summer.

Unlike her other castmates, Catelynn is the only one of the TMs who made the difficult decision to give up her daughter, Carly, for adoption. It’s a choice she doesn’t regret – and it’s one that helped form her future plans.

“I have a calling for pregnant teenagers that are placing for adoption,” Catelynn tells US Weekly. Her adoption experience “and doing the show helped me realize what I want to do for the rest of my life.”

In last night’s show – one of the last ones in the original series – Catelynn is shown taking a call from an adoption counselor who says she would be “phenomenal” at the job.

She’s getting a taste of her chosen career now. Now 20 and pursuing her degree in social work, Catelynn has been touring universities and high schools telling students about the realities of teen pregnancy and the options available for pregnant girls.

Her ultimate goal, as she says in the clip, is to work for Bethany, the adoption services agency that helped her place Carly with her new family.

Carly’s parents recently adopted a baby boy – and Catelynn was there to witness the birth! Tyler says the experience was “really special” because of Catelynn’s involvement.

Although some of the other TMs – like Farrah Abraham and Maci Bookout – also give lectures on teen pregnancy, Catelynn is the only one so far who’s actively pursuing a career connected with the subject.

Best of luck to Catelynn on her very worthy goals!
