As frustrating and patience-testing as raising kids can be sometimes, I don’t know anybody that doesn’t love coming home to their children’s excitement, hugs, and kisses. And relatively new dad Mark McGrath recently talked to People about just how much it means to him.
His welcome home party used to consist of his fiance and dogs…but since having his twins in April 2010, his welcoming party now includes twins Lydon Edward and Hartley Grace. McGrath and fiance Carin Kingsland have dated for over 16 years, but just became engaged on New Year’s Eve, 2009.
The 43 year-old rocker and Celebrity Apprentice wanna be says: “I can’t even articulate my love for these children … to go away and come home and see their faces and see them recognize you. I mean, I used to be happy when I came home and my dogs recognized me!”
“You can’t get any more unconditional than that. Now to come home to crawling babies going, Ahhh!’ toward you, it’s just phenomenal.”
He’s right…it definitely is phenomenal and so much fun to be a part of!
The twins, now walking, take after dad in a way you might not ever expect. McGrath was lead singer in the popular ’90s band Sugar Ray: “They’re standing now and doing that drunken two-step walk that I did so well in the ’90s…What’s great about twins is they are trying to one up each other so they’re learning the motor skills together.”
Wonder if McGrath is considering having the kids act in the future? I’m guessing yes!
