One celeb mom style trend we’ve spotted is taking shorts to a new level. But how do you dress up shorts to make them a little more formal and a little less beachy?

First step: ditch the flip flops! Think beyond your typical summer shorts and t-shirt combo and create one of these dressy options!

Here are four celeb moms showing off their legs in shorts, but making the shorts work for either a business casual or evening look.

Which is your favorite?

Brooke Burke wore shorts to her book signing earlier this year, and since it was before the summer months hit, she paired black shorts with black tights and some super cute boots. The silky sleeveless blouse in vibrant blue is a nice contrast to the all black on the lower half and really dresses up the outfit.

Naomi Watts sports red shorts, a detailed white top and a dark blazer, as well as chunky neutral wedge shoes with cute ties at the ankle. While we don't 100% love the choice in top, we love the layered look of a short blazer with the shirt peeking out at the bottom.
  • Jada Pinkett Smith 3 of 4

Jada Pinkett Smith goes high fashion in shorts! This look definitely isn't for everybody, but there are perhaps a few nuggets of inspiration to be found. Jada pairs leather shorts with a high necked blouse, big cape jacket and floppy hat.
  • Gwen Stefani 4 of 4
