10 Celebrities Who Were Bullied As Kids (Photos)

jessica simpson, bully

Jessica Simpson was bullied as a child.

It gets better. While that statement may be hard to fathom by the average school-aged kid, it’s a sentiment that’s proven true by the many celebrity parents who were bullied as a child.

With the release of the new movie Bully, (in which we happened to speak with the director) bullying is being brought to the forefront of everyday news. It’s an epidemic that needs to be stopped. Too many lives are being lost and too many cries are being ignored.

While our own President Barack Obama, along with celebrities such as Lady Gaga, continue to fight the good fight in ending bullying, we’d like to showcase a list of celebrity parents who were bullied as a child. If nothing more, we hope it serves as a catalyst to prove that “it [life] gets better.”

Read about the personal encounters below. And to see a few more examples of celebs who have been bullied, check out the list on Listal!

Christina Aguilera dealt with bullies in school when she started to become a music star. "I would get a lot of cold shoulders because there was just no way they could relate to what I loved to do," Aguilera has said. "You know, it's not really normal for a child to just want to be in front of the camera and on stage. It's not something that all kids want to do—they want to play in the playground. You know, it was hard for me to relate to other kids because I didn't have the same interests. I was even more the oddball, I felt, because of that."
