Celebrity Baby Names: Does it Smell a Little Fruity in Here?

By AD Lynn |

My stubborn-as-a-mule toddler is in the middle of a major olive phase. At snacktime, I offer him pretzels, cheese, and even (just between you and me) cookies. Yet all I get in return is a feisty, “Mo’ olives, Mama!” Mo’ olives, indeed. So in honor of my boy, I am dedicating this post to Sasha Baron Cohen’s daughter, Olive…and to all of the other celebrity babies named after fruits. I count five fruit-tots total – listed, with photos, below. Please let me know if I’m missing anyone!

First, the obvious, the mother of all fruit-based offspring, the queen of the Celebrity Baby Name circuit: Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s Apple.

Next, the two Clementines, born to Ethan Hawke and Claudia Schiffer (a third, born to Cybill Shepherd, is all grown up).

And finally, socialite and 21-year-old child-at-heart Peaches Geldof, daughter of British singer, songwriter, and activist Bob Gelodoff.

Who else? I have a hard time believing that there are no Honeydews, Starfruits, or Grapes running around Hollywood’s hottest playgroups. Seriously, can you think of any that I’ve missed?

I’ve never eaten an olive, but I really like the name. I think I’ll try one this year – but they are so weird looking!

  2. AD Lynn says:

Definitely try one, Jean! I was shocked that my son likes them so much. It’s definitely got me thinking about the name Olive…if I ever have a girl.
