  • Violet Affleck

    Violet Affleck

Looks like mom and grandma are struggling to free Violet Affleck from her stroller — perhaps because she’s too big to be in it in the first place?

  • Ava Jackman

    Ava Jackman

It’s somewhat comical to look at this photo of Ava Jackman in a stroller — she’s bursting out of it!

  • Alexander Schreiber

    Alexander Schreiber

Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber don’t need that double stroller anymore. Their older son, Alexander, is too big to be in it anyway!

  • Levi McConaughey

    Levi McConaughey

Maybe Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves’ son, Levi, looks so distressed because he knows he should be walking rather than sitting uncomfortably in a stroller.

  • Leni and Henry Samuel

    Leni and Henry Samuel

This family outing would probably be a lot easier if Heidi Klum and her helpers ditched the second stroller and let the eldest kids walk.

  • Kingston Rossdale

    Kingston Rossdale

We’ve all seen Kingston running around in photos, so we’re pretty sure that stroller he’s spilling out of is unnecessary.

  • Magnus Ferrell

    Magnus Ferrell

We’re fine with Will Ferrell’s second-oldest son, Mattias, riding in the stroller, but Magnus is too big for that special ride-along spot on back. But at least Will’s getting exercise pushing the extra weight!

  • Ever Gabo

    Ever Gabo

Milla Jovovich’s daughter looks quite uncomfortable and cramped in that stroller, doesn’t she?

  • Marco Mastropietro

    Marco Mastropietro

Actress Jill Hennessy’s son, Marco, may not be in the stroller at the time of this photo, but it’s pretty clear he was at one point. One question: Why?

  1. give em a break says:

seriously, haven’t you ever had agonizingly slow walks with the 2yo+ crowd? i totally understand why these children are in strollers.

  2. emmavt says:

A couple of these kids are too big, but quite a few seem perfectly within range of using a stroller- this was a pretty big stretch just to be snarky. The families might have been out all day, on a longer walk, or need to be able to move fast to avoid paparazzi.

  3. Anonymous says:

Do you get paid to come up with story ideas like this? Seriously?

  4. LBD says:

Huh? None of those kids looked uncomfortable, and I bet they all appreciate mom and/or dad lugging along the hardware in case their little tiny feet get tired from walking. This story is ridiculous.

  5. KD says:

You must have been desperate to come up with 10 photos. I would say only two or three of those kids is really “too old” for the stroller. And then, who cares anyway? My four year old still sometimes rides — even though she’s perfectly capable of walking.

  6. jeez says:

i hate the nasty tone on babble these days.

  7. LV says:

Did you even look at these photos before putting this together? What a waste of time.

  8. Michelle says:

    This is stupid.

  9. RUKidding says:

Ugh. I don’t even think anyone would care if a 4-6 year old were pictured in a wagon, which serves the same purpose.

  10. EmDu says:

What is this about exactly? Giving regular moms a reason to sneer at celeb moms so we can feel better about ourselves or something? This sort of thing just feeds into the “mommy wars” bulls***. You know, for all the mom-on-mom hate I read about in print, I have to say, I find my fellow playground-goers to be a remarkably nice, chill, open-minded bunch. Babble needs to stop trying so hard to be edgy and work a little harder at being useful and informative – which I think it used to be, but I don’t know, maybe I was just more sleep deprived.

  11. kylerr says:

I’m with EmDu. This seems a little too judge-y. When I’m out in the city with my 2 kids do you judge me for letting my older son have a ride when he is too tired? Or is this just judging because they are celebrities?

  12. Jill says:

Emma Sarran, how are you NOT embarrassed to have your name on the byline of this ridiculous, judgmental set of photos??! Are you even a mother? Nobody I know throws the stroller away when the kid is a proficient walker, that is ludicrous. Do you live in a city, where a normal commute to preschool may include walking a mile in city blocks (and back- how about getting your tired 3 yr old to walk that mile home at 3:30n after a day of preschool?). Do you ever take day long outings? Have to traipse through an airport with kids and bags late at night? Oh, one more question- how does it feel to be the kid of person who judges people for their parenting. because weirdly enough, those are real people in your slideshow, caring for their kids. Needless to say, this sucked. Go, Babble, way to ensure quality blog contect!

  13. Jill says:

Apologies for the typos, nursing while typing.

  14. Babble Editors says:

If you’re wondering, yes, we hear you! We take a lot of care in choosing our celebrity features. You’ll find a variety of content; while we hope you’ll enjoy it–and maybe even have a laugh–we don’t expect it to always resonate with everyone. If you don’t like a particular piece, we hope you’ll give us the benefit of the doubt.

  15. citymamaj says:

I don’t see how it’s possible to like this piece at all, Babble editors. Further, while it may not be the case with these particular kids, this is the kind of crap strangers used to say to me when they didn’t notice that my son had special needs that necessitated him being in a stroller until he was “too old” because of muscle tone problems and safety concerns.

  16. bug says:

This is so ridiculous. It is clear that almost every single one of these photos were taken in a city (mostly New York). People walk everywhere there, and there is little consideration given to little kids holding up traffic when their feet get tired. Have you every gone on a long walk with children? Their feet give out after a mile or two. My son is three and I still take a stroller in airports and when I go into the city because I don’t want to have to schlep his 35 lb body for 5 miles through a crowd because his feet are tired.

  17. 2cents says:

Your content, Babble is sadly lacking and may have me removing you from my favs. bar.

  18. WideHips says:

Yeah, sure, maybe some of these kids are “too big,” but none of them are fat. If they’re not fat, they’re probably getting enough exercise and eating the right foods to keep them healthy and to allow for the luxury of a stroller ride. Here in Chicago, many of the kids I see are “young enough” for a stroller, but several pounds above where they should be. THAT, my friends, would make a much more apt slide show. (A little mean, though, I must admit.)

  19. Monzie says:

Levi Mcconaughey is only TWO, for heavens sake! He’s hardly “too big” for a stroller! Would it make more sense for his mother to be pushing the infant in a single stroller and letting Levi run free, since she wouldn’t have a free hand to hold? Sheesh! What a stupid photo essay…

  20. Ariel says:

    dumbest post ever

  21. Anonymous says:

Okay I am not going to defend the LA families but its looks like most of these photos were taken in NYC where we have to walk a gazillion blocks and I can betchu most of these celebrities were not just jauntig down to the corner. Hugh Jackman lives on the west high way which literally is out in the middle of nowhere to get to someplace. And for the one photo where they said the second kid should be walking good grief. You try maneuvering a 2-3 year old in Manhattan. Anyone with half a brain knows kids have no sense of distance or cars. Most times you see parents running after their kids trying avoid them running into the street, I know I have left many a stroller half way down the block as my daughter just started running

As single mom with tons of errands to run, who wants to deal with dragging a kid along a gazillion blocks, the kids probably are in strollers just a tad bit longer than most.
This is a nutty article and considering babble is based in NYC is pretty unacceptable.

  22. this is silly says:

Does the person in charge of this feature even have children? These kids aren’t too big for strollers. Go to Disney, take a look around. Shrimpy legs get tired sometimes, even if they are attached to a four year old.

  23. MamaLuvins says:

I’ve got to agree with every single one of these other comments – give me a break! Kids get tired, even big ones. Who cares if they’re in a stroller or not??

  24. Laure68 says:

I’m a little late here, but I agree with everyone else. This post is completely stupid. If you live in a city you do a lot of stuff on foot, and not many kids can walk miles on end. It is either use a stroller or carry your kid for miles. Even when I walk with my son I bring a light umbrella stroller with a strap that I sling on my shoulder. Then, if he gets tired, I don’t have to carry a 40lb. kid.

The funny thing is, nobody complains when someone drives their kids everywhere.

  25. christinky says:

ridiculous and possibly sizist, too. some kids are very tall and look a lot older than they are. possibly a super model’s kid would be very tall. my son looks twice his age. shame on you!

  26. Anonymous says:

Seriously, whoever wrote this post should be forced to walk 3 blocks with my 4 year old. I promise you at the end of block #2 they would be begging for a stroller!

  27. Anonymous says:

If the kids are within the weight limit on want is recommended for the stroller than its cool. Otherwise, when your kids get tired. Go home!

  28. Hot tamale says:

Hate, hate, hate this article. NONE of these kids are too big or too old to be in a stroller. My daughter has hypotonia and didn’t walk until she was over 4 and still at 6 can NOT walk very far and needs a stroller. Just because a child looks too big for a stroller doesn’t mean that they are. Keep the judgment to yourself!

  29. Stroller user says:

Wow, I am so over Babble’s ridiculously judgmental pieces. Here is a newsflash, Babble – most people have very little time to read your articles. If you continue to publish drivel like this photo essay instead of content that may actually be useful to busy moms, who by the way, often use double strollers to help them safely transport their children, then you will see your readers dropping like flies.

  30. Jenna Boettger Boring says:

This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever read. Ever tried to walk somewhere at the speed of a three year old? You either end of screaming at them and everyone is unhappy or it takes you half an hour to walk a block. Get over yourselves.

  31. Jenna Boettger Boring says:

P.S. In the picture of Violet Affleck grandma is holding a smaller leg, implying that there is a younger child behind Violet. Are you sure they’re trying to “free the giant child” and not just getting them both comfortable so they can ride together?
    And… this article still sucks.

  32. Anonymous says:

I see parents trying to make their kids comfortable. WHat is wrong with that!!!! ?? also you can’t force a 4 year old into the stroller: they probably asked to go in the stroller.
    Please.

  33. Stoich91 says:

This article is just plain mean, and it doesn’t make any sense. Good Grief. Call the police; those “abusive” parents are letting their kids ride around in strollers all day; what’s NEXT?! Letting their kids drink from water fountains? Or wearing boots in the winter? I stop reading halfway into this. Where does babble win in all this? Maybe 32 comments and a lot of time spent on the site. “yay”

  34. pamama says:

I have lost 3 IQ points having read this drivel. Shame on you Babble.

  35. lgold07 says:

Levi fits perfectly in the stroller. And the other kids are NOT too big…for extended walking, especially. You can bet my 3-year-old would be strapped safely in our double stroller if we were tooling around NYC. This article should be removed. It’s that ridiculous.

  36. Kelly Mah says:

I too was recently judged for my stroller “faux-pax”. I had the nerve to place my sick and tired 3 1/2 year old in her stroller while waiting at the doctor’s office. When we got to see him an hour later, he made it clear that he felt she was too old to be in the stroller and I was not living up to my parenting duty by using it. I was taken aback and had to explain that she was up most of the night sick and I couldn’t carry her while we waited in line to see him. Even after I gave him that explanation I still couldn’t help but feel small. I have stage 4 breast cancer and I have a young child to take care of. People shouldn’t be so judgmental until they know all the circumstances.

  37. bill says:

Jill Hennessys son needs to walk because he’s chubby and tall.

Heidi Kulm’s three oldest should be walking, but hey, strollers are fun and so no real biggie.

The rest are okay with me, because, hey it’s fun for them and they’re fit.

  38. fritz says:

You are the worst kind of people ever. You popped out kids and think that gives you full license to judge everyone else in the world who did. Get the fuck off your high horses and go back to minding your own families.

  39. kat says:

this article is mean and sucks. and I only got to the 3rd pic.

  40. meg says:

i have to agree with most of the comments… this article is unnecessarily critical. half those kids are fine to be sitting in strollers, and who cares if the other kids seem too big. this article is a bummer all around. it doesn’t reflect well of the site, and is a waste of time to read.

  41. Amanda Hugnkiss says:

Maybe if you’d bothered to notice that grandma is holding the leg of another child, it might explain the struggle. Kids get tired of walking, and as they get older they are too heavy to carry. Let ‘em ride.

  42. mommaofakc says:

I can’t believe this article was just to bash celebrity moms for caring wether their children were comfortable or not. When I saw the headline I thought I see funny moment their kids were cutting up in. You know behavior beyond their actual age. Who gave anyone the right to judge another parents parenting unless it was detrimental to their health? None of these kids look like they are in any kind of danger, and on picture 9 It’s None Of Your Darn Business why he still uses his stroller or anyone else for that matter.

  43. Anonymous says:

Its unnatural to see big kids in strollers!! Its amazing how these people OVER-SPOIL their kids.

  44. Monny287 says:

This article is ridiculous; half these kids aren’t “spilling out” of their strollers, they fit just fine. I don’t blame these celebrity parents for sticking their kids in strollers. If I were walking with a kid around a crowded city, you’d better believe I’d put them in a stroller, too. It’s safer than having them walk on their own. Not to mention hauling around 35 pounds of tired toddler is harder than it looks.

  45. NadeShiko9 says:

Their kids are a fasion sence to them like Tiny dogs in purses.
Or they want to keep them small, cute and Manageable

  46. TsMama says:

Maybe Levi wouldn’t look so distressed if he didn’t have people coming at him for pics, etc! If I were a celeb, I’d HIDE my kids too!
I have kids, it’s safer to keep them in a stroller, or if at the grocery store, to keep them in a shopping cart!

  47. Precious Valentin says:

Most of the children should have been walking, certainly. However, MARCO MASTROPIETRO is not only the eldest, he’s also the most unfit and in desperate need of exercise. His mother is enabling him in the worse way possible, setting him up for a whole slew of problems as he ages. Let him walk, unless there’s a medical reason for him not to! She needs therapy: He’s not a baby anymore!

  48. Lisa says:

Wow none of those kids look uncomfortable. What part of adults walk faster and longer don’t you guys get? Seems to me all those people were walking and going some where and not driving – what part of hey these are great parents out walking with their kids!

  49. Anonymous says:

I agree with everyone else. This article, at best, is idiotic. It’s also judgmental and uninformed. You do realize most of these photos were clearly taken by paparrazi stalking these celebrity families? It’s bad enough you opted to use them, but the comments? These folks are just trying to go somewhere with their kids, while trying to give them some kind of private childhood. Lay off.

  50. Sarah says:

No. She looks sleepy and content to me. I think I’m officially done with babble. This is nonsense.

  51. Jacy says:

I agree, this is total b.s. Who are we to judge, celebrity or not?

  52. YK says:

Wow, I usually enjoy the articles and tidbits on Babble but this piece seemed pretty snarky and judgmental. I don’t think any of the kids in these photos are in any danger physically and most of us parents can understand the convenience of strollers and that sometimes kids just like riding in a stroller, especially if they’re tired. And this piece also seems to suggest that celebrities are the only ones who would allow their now-walking child to ride in a stroller. Disappointing Babble!

  53. tyyche says:

wow. who are you to decide when someone else’s child should be in a stroller or not? What a load of judgement rubbish.

  54. DMarty says:

WOW, this is lame. Obviously written by someone who doesn’t have children and isn’t aware of the incessant whining and dawdling that can happen with a four year old. Shut up already, if a stroller makes life easier for the parent, no harm done.

  55. Bunny says:

Whatev. . . they obviously need the strollers to outrun the paparazzi. Stupid article.

  56. Anonymous says:

If you had done your research you would also know that Jill has a 2 year old son and the last time I checked 2 year olds still ride in strollers.

  57. TS says:

This is a ridiculous article! The double stroller both Alexander Schreiber and Levi McConaughey are riding in (the Baby Jogger City Mini Double) is made for kids ups to 50lbs in EACH seat, and makes the canopies higher to accomodate taller kids. Obviously, the “author” who assembled these photos has never attempted a full day outing with a 3 or 4 year old. I wonder what her opinion would have been if these kids were in wagons instead of strollers!?!

  58. Chrissy Roig Mosley says:

Are you kidding me? My kid never used a stroller. I have one of those kids who would walk on trails with us for hours at age 3. However, we recently got a stroller now that we have a second child. Our older daughter, who will be 6 soon, has decided she likes sitting in it sometimes, too. She knows how to ride a 2 wheeler with no training wheels, and yes, she fits in a stroller, too. I believe the weight limit is 45 lbs. So while she walked several miles with us the other day, when my husband and I wanted to do a couple miles very quickly and we wanted to be able to talk to eachother, the stroller made things a little more easy. And like I said, she was never a stroller child and this stroller is new. I think there is nothing wrong with stroller use and I definitely prefer it to whining.

  59. Anonymous says:

Some kids need strollers regardless of their age, my son is 7 and has autism he needs it because he get overwhelm walking around many people if I go to the park is ok with out it, but the zoo Disney etc I have to have for him, so before criticize someone keep in mind they may be a reason why

  60. cel ati says:

This article absolute nonsense. If your kid wants to sit in a stroller and you have no problems pushing it there is no problem…And are you really judging Heidi Klum for having her kids in a stroller? With that many kids, I’d rather they be strapped in than running around. ALL the information in the article is inaccurate. I won’t be reading Babble again.
