Celebrity Parents Who Need a Marriage Ref
In Jerry Seinfeld’s reality show, The Marriage Ref, real-life couples present their sides of the argument to celebrities including Alex Baldwin, Larry David, and Kelly Ripa - and then the A-listers decide who the “winner” is. But if celebs and regular folk swapped seats, here are five famous pairs who could really use the help. - Andrea Zimmerman
Charlie Sheen & Brooke Mueller
Although we think marrying Charlie Sheen was dumb/risky in the first place given his violent, tumultuous marriage history, their Christmas Day blow-out in which Sheen allegedly threatened Mueller with a knife during a fight was a low point in the kooky couple’s marriage. Split up or work it out, but please, please don’t expose your adorable, innocent twins to your mess.
Jon & Kate Gosselin
What started as a fun, family-oriented show about raising 8 kids turned into the trainwreck of the year when Jon was rumored to be having an affair with Kate’s plastic surgeon’s daughter. (Classy.) After that, Kate cried a lot on national TV, Jon partied a lot in Vegas, and the 8 kids will read all about it later on the Internet. Whoo!
Shanna Moakler & Travis Barker
Taking the on-off couple of the decade award, the punk rocker and the beauty queen can’t quite decide whether they totally love or totally hate each other. And honestly, amid their passive-aggressive bashing of each other via the blogosphere, we’ve become quite annoyed and wish they’d just STOP.
Katie Price & Peter Andre
Put together two C-list “stars” who run their mouths to the tabloids far more often than anyone would like to hear and you’ve got this loud, dysfunctional pair. Peter’s aghast that Katie colored and straightened their toddler’s naturally-curly hair (and we sort of agree with him – really, fake eyelashes?) and Katie’s pissed that Peter’s pissed at her. Way too much drama; call marriage ref now.
Madonna & Guy Ritchie
This couple always struck us as odd, so it was no surprise that as soon as divorce papers surfaced, things between the Material Mom and the British director got naaasty. Although the couple kept it (mostly) civilized for the children, tabloids reported Ritchie calling Madonna “old, fat, and wrinkly” during arguments and that Madonna was offering cold, hard cash for control over their kids. Most of the storm has passed, but with recent rumors they’re reconciling, we think a lengthy counseling session would help, uh, clear the air.
