Celebrity Style:Dress Like Gwyneth Paltrow (If You Have $18K Laying Around)

Gwyneth PaltrowHere’s the deal: most of my clothes come from Target or Kohl’s. My wardrobe is what I can afford; it’s not so hideous that I’m embarrassed to go out in public with it, but of course I’d like to buy a super expensive Gucci dress to feel beautiful and celeb sexy!

Enter Gwyneth Paltrow. She’s crushing my dreams of ever being able to afford to dress like a celeb. The 38 year old actress, author, singer and fashion icon recently posted her fave spring fashion looks on her healthy living website GOOP.com.

But dressing like Gwyneth is gonna cost ya – over $18,000 if you go with all of her picks!

She recently teamed up with luxury online retailer Net-a-Porter to put together six outfit concepts revolving around wardrobe “basics.” These basics included a $785 Stella McCartney jersey tank dress, a $1840 Chloe silk jacket, and a $90 Kain T-shirt. Ninety bucks for a t-shirt? I’m out.

The least expensive item on the must-have list? A Splendid cotton tank for $44. This tank was part of her “casual look”, which will run you a mere $1244. More than a thousand dollars to run errands? You’ve got to be crazy!

Apparently Gwyneth is catering to a higher income group of women than the one I reside in. She says of the looks that they are “great pieces which are versatile enough to wear to the office and during your summer leisure time.”

So what do you think? Is Gwyneth off her rocker pushing duds like that to what I’m guessing is her fan base of stay at home moms? Or is she trying to just sell them a luxurious fantasy? What do you think?
