It’s that time of year when we all make New Years resolutions: a lot of us resolve to lose weight this year. Celebrities are no different.
A special on ABC’s Primetime tonight took a look at what celebs have done to lose weight: what worked, what didn’t.
Ricki Lake was on the show: at one point, she was 260 pounds at 5’3″. She lost about 100 pounds in 6 months. But, she doesn’t recommend her method: she was depriving herself of food to the point of passing out. She eventually got down to size a 4. Ricki Lake says she still has issues with her body image.
Fad diets were also discussed on the show. Who doesn’t want a quick fix to getting thin? Jennifer Aniston was considered to be the face of the baby food diet. Demi Moore was rumored to be on the raw foods diet. Megan Fox is rumored to like the caveman diet. The Dukan diet is the number one diet in France and the one that Kate Middleton’s mother is rumored to be on, along with Jennifer Lopez. Snooki is supposed to be on the cookie diet. Then there’s the master cleanse diet: Naomi Campbell, Demi Moore, and Ashton Kutcher have supposedly all tried this diet. The experts on the show didn’t approve of any of these fad diets; no, not even the Twinkie diet.
Kendra Wilkinson went from 105 to 165 when she was pregnant. She didn’t instantly lose all her weight after having her baby. She’d work out every day, sometimes twice a day and still wasn’t losing the weight. She was criticized for losing her sexiness after becoming a mom. She considered liposuction but did not go through with it. She admits that there is some airbrushing on the magazine covers. She says she’d rather show her flaws. After a year, she was down to 120 pounds and released her own exercise dvd. Her secret: eating healthy and working out.
The Bachelorette’s Ali Fedotowsky gained weight when she moved in with Roberto and said she lost the weight by eating small meals. American Idol’s Jennifer Hudson has lost eighty pounds with the help of Weight Watchers. Bethenny Frankel says diets don’t work, but has an entire line of workout products, including her book “Naturally Thin.”
Unfortunately, there weren’t any magic answers given to how celebs lose weight. Most have personal trainers and food plans. Still, they have to be more aware of their body weight than the rest of us, since they are under constant scrutiny.
