Change of Heart! Kendra Wilkinson "Definitely" Wants Another Baby This YearShana Aborn
When it comes to planning a family, some women know from the start that they want a houseful of kids. Others are just as certain that they’re the “one and done” type. And still others are on the fence: uncertain about whether to go for another, and how close in age they want the siblings to be.
For a long while, Kendra Wilkinson was in that third group. As recently as July, she told Celebrity Baby Scoop that she was in no rush to increase her family size after having her son, now 3.
“We’re just enjoying our time with little Hank right now and focusing on helping him start preschool, etc.,” she said, adding that she and Hank Baskett were still getting settled into new work projects. “When the time is right, the time is right.”
Barely half a year later, it seems that time is here. In a new interview with the site, Kendra was asked about her New Year’s plans. “Definitely to have Baby #2,” she revealed. “Maybe we’ll have another boy. We’re already used to them!”
So what happened in that space between “whenever” and “ASAP”? I have a few theories.
1. The time really is right. It’s hard to contemplate going through morning sickness and weekly doctors’ visits when you’re taking meetings, going on promo tours and giving interviews. Plus, after a lot of back-and-forthing, WE TV renewed Kendra on Top for another season. What better way to draw in more viewers than a pregnancy storyline?
2. Baby lust is kicking in. After swapping the crib for a toddler bed and giving the onesies to Goodwill, moms often feel that they-grow-so-fast pang. Suddenly, the craving for that new-baby smell kicks in, and the idea of returning to sleepless nights of nursing doesn’t sound so terrible. Now that little Hank is more boy than baby, Kendra could be finding herself detouring into the baby aisle at Target just to check out the new merchandise. That Noah’s Ark nursery set would look so sweet in our spare room…
3. She’s feeling the pressure. Moms are subjected to nosiness and criticism about all aspects of parenthood – including having more than one. You think Michelle Duggar gets flak for having too many children? Try being a mother of an only child. You’ll hear so many helpful comments: “Kids need brothers and sisters.” “Don’t you want a girl too?” “Better start trying – you’re not getting any younger.” “So when’s the next one coming?” It’s possible that Kendra’s had enough of the questions and figures now is as good a time as any to make them stop.
4. She’s pregnant now! “We definitely plan to try” could be code for “We’ve got one on the way, but we’re not quite at the safe three-month mark yet.” If that’s the case, then keep your ears open for some big news in a few weeks.
Whatever the motivation, Kendra has officially put it out there. The best of luck to her – and let the bump watch commence!
