While this week has been a positive move forward for former reality television mom Kate Gosselin (she found a job), it looks like the mother-of-eight has just taken two steps back, at least when it comes to her parenting skills.
A child safety group is throwing Kate under the bus for an incident that occurred when one of her own kids was caught underneath her family van.
Just this week Kate’s 7-year-old son was caught underneath the family’s van when Kate was behind the wheel. The paparazzi snapped her son underneath the van when the reality television star pulled up at a parking lot to meet her kids’ school bus and take them home. Kate stayed in the car while her kids piled in the vehicle with their school bags.
According to Jannette Fennell, president and founder of KidsAndCars.org, the mother-of-eight should be counting her blessings that nothing serious happened.
“She should have gotten out of the car to supervise them, especially when you have that many children,” Fennell tells RadarOnline. “Kids tend to put themselves in harms way in an instant.”
“You should never leave children unattended in or around motor vehicles. Even if they are all capable of getting themselves into the van and getting buckled up, children at that age are unpredictable,” she adds.
According to Fennell, statistics show that motor vehicle accidents are the number one killer of children.
