Christopher Meloni Leaving Law & Order SVU: To Spend More Time With Family?

Christopher Meloni leaving Law and Order SVU

Celebrity dad Christopher Meloni has announced that the 12th season of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit will be his last.

The father of two is departing the cast but why?  It is to spend more time with his wife, Doris Meloni and two children, Sophia, 11, and Dante, 7?

Well, his kids are in school and likely not the reason for his departure.  In suprising news, NBC could not come to an agreement with the star.

Meloni has been playing the role of Detective Stabler for 12 seasons.  His contract expired this spring.

According a source, “protracted talks between the actor … and studio NBC Universal broke down on Tuesday.”

‘SVU’ has been on the air at NBC for over a decade with Meloni and Mariska Hargitay as the lead actors.

Sources say series creator Dick Wolf is already searching for a big name to replace Meloni and star opposite Mariska Hargitay, who will only appear on half of season 13.  She recently adopted a baby!

Rumors are flying that she might be replaced by Jennifer Love Hewitt.

It’ll be sad to see this celeb dad go!
