Sadly, after being hospitalized in Brunswick, N.J. on September 25 after what was been classified as an accidental drug overdose, comedian Greg Giraldo, 44, father of three, has passed away surrounded by family. Giraldo was best known for his celebrity roast appearances. He had also been a judge on Last Comic Standing. A source close to Giraldo said, “Greg passed away today at the hospital in New Brunswick as a result of an accidental overdose. His family was by his side.”
What many people don’t know about Giraldo is that he was a graduate of Harvard Law and worked as an associate at high-powered law firm Skadden for less than a year before he switched careers. He was known as a heavy drinker in the past, and told Conan O’Brien during a guest appearance in 2005 that he quit drinking.
Plans are being made for a public memorial service.
