Thanks to her standout performance on last season’s Celebrity Apprentice, Cyndi Lauper’s landed her own reality show. Her costars? Husband David Thornton and son Declyn, 12. Here’s what to expect when the show airs:
Given that it’s produced by Mark Burnett, the man behind Survivor and The Apprentice, production values (and drama!) will be high. There may be a bit of singing too, since Apprentice fans will remember that when times got tough (and money needed to be raised), Cyndi sometimes relied on her pipes. As for the subject matter, I’d love to see a bit of Thornton’s career, and the ways he and Cyndi balance work and family—they’ve been married since 1991, so they must be doing something right. Thornton is a character actor you might recognize for his numerous guest spots on the various Law & Orders.
The real mystery is Cyndi Lauper’s son, Declyn. Little is known about him other than that he was named after Elvis Costello (nee Declan), and was born at 9 lbs naturally, without drugs. So he’s the real reason we’ll be watching.
No date has been set for the show to air, but we’ll be keeping an eye out.
