Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon and gone and pulled a Britney by shaving her head, but that’s not the only reason she’s grabbing headlines. Nixon is also claiming to be a gay woman “by choice.”
While Britney Spears shaved her head back in 2007 due to mental issues, Nixon has completely shaven her head for a role on Broadway. What do you think? Could the shaven head by a new trend in Hollywood?
Nixon recently had an interview printed in Sunday’s New York Times Magazine, saying that she is a gay woman “by choice,” which is alarming many in the gay community as being gay is not a choice to the majority of the population.
“I’m gay, and I was born this way,” celebrity chef Cat Cora said on The Talk Tuesday (Jan. 24), when Julie Chen talked about Nixon’s interview. “So, I really feel like it was dangerous and irresponsible of Cynthia, especially in this environment today when so many young people are taking their lives.
“I know growing up as a young gay person how much you hate yourself,” Cora continued, “how much you already think you’re different. And for someone to say, It’s a choice, you can be this way or that way,’ I think it’s dangerous and I ask Cynthia to please, reach out to the community and say—to all the people who do hate themselves right now, all the young kids who are impressionable—to say, You’re OK, take it one day at a time, it gets better.'”
What do you think of Cynthia’s comments? Nixon is a mom and I’m sure she wouldn’t want her kids growing up to believe that being different is “a choice.”
