On Watch What Happens Live, Danielle Staub Talks Tape, Dina, and Being a Role Model?

danielle staub real housewives of njReal Housewives of New Jersey Danielle Staub was Andy Cohen’s guest on Watch What Happens Live last night (airing right after the new RHONJ episode), and she was uncomfortably defensive. Also, uncomfortably stiff, as if her entire body had been botoxed. Maybe it had! One of the main storylines of last night’s RHONJ was Danielle redoing her defective breast implants. How much other work has she had? I’m not qualified to even hazard a guess.

Staub spoke about her role as a mom, the infamous tape (and whether she released it herself), and Dina Manzo’s departure from Real Housewives of New Jersey. Her take on that last point was especially enticing. She also  sang with her new maybe girlfriend, Lori Michaels. Lori Michaels-Danielle Staub, an item? Details below.

First, the mom thing. Cohen asked Staub what kind of a role model she is for her kids, given that they’ve been giving her advice recently. She immediately cited her daughters’ excellent track records (one just graduated from 6th grade with honors, the other from 10th grade with honors), and then explained, “I think when children become very close to their parents, as a single mom for eight years, I think it’s inevitable for them to be giving some advice.” Point taken. For Danielle Staub, kids aren’t the problem.

Of course, her naked tape isn’t necessarily something you want your children asking about. Cohen asked her if she’d released the tape herself, as has been widely rumored. “No,” she said. “I would love to be brilliant enough to fiure out how to do that.”

“I assume you’ve seen it,” Cohen said.

“I was in it. I haven’t really watched it,” she said. At that moment, her credibility went out the window.

Her true snide side came out when she resonded to Dina’s Manzo’s recent statement, to Us Weekly, that she (Manzo) was departing from RHONJ because of Danielle. Manzo said, “I would say 99.9 percent is because of Danielle [Staub], but the other .1 percent was drama created by her.” Not so, says Staub! “She knows the reason she had to leave the show and maybe I’ll share it at the reunion. It didn’t have anything to do with me.”

Really? We’ll be watching the reunion to find out.

Two other WWHL highlights:

Danielle sang a song she defined as a “tortured lullaby” with singer-songwriter Lori Michaels. Tortured yes, but not nearly as tortured as the Countess’s video and accompanying single. Forced to listen to one of them, I’d choose Danielle by a mile. After the song, Cohen asked whether Danielle and Lori are a couple (Lori is a lesbian). Danielle refused to comment aloud, though she did begin to fondle Lori’s hair. Should we expect a Danielle Staub-Lori Michaels full-length album in the future? I’d say perhaps.

And finally, Cohen asked her about meeting Kelly Bensimon, Real Housewives of New York‘s tortured soul. “Kelly and Jill [Zarin] are two of the sweetest women when you meet them in person.” Cohen mentioned that Kelly is the loon on RHONY the way Danielle is the loon on RHONJ. To which Danielle said,  “I think everyone’s a little crazy and everyone should start owning it.” Maybe, but there are different degrees of crazy. And Danielle, on Watch What Happens, came across as nearly certifiable.

Did you see the show? What did you think?
