Tina Fey and Steve Carell’s new blockbuster Date Night brought in the big bucks on it’s opening weekend. It’s no doubt that countless parents called their sitters and went to see if for their own – albeit less action packed – date night. While many of us moms and dads spend our quality one on one time going to a movie or getting dolled up for a dinner at our local Red Lobster, how do those celebrity parents out there celebrate a night off of their parental duties?
Here are what 10 celebrities do for date night:
Tina Fey & Steve Carell
Date Night star Steve Carell recently said, “Sometimes you’ve had a long week and you have a date night planned and the babysitter comes and you envy her for…” Fey finished his thought saying, “Settling in! She’s going to watch TV.” “Oh, with a big bowl of chips and the Tivo lined up with your favorite shows,” Carell continued. “That sounds like the best date night of all.”
And Tina Fey tries to fit in date nights with her hubby saying, “every other week my husband and I will try to get out and have a date night, even though we never really call it that. It feels like such an effort, because all we want to do is go to bed, but we force ourselves to put on clothes although it never actually gets to the point where I would put on a dress. And definitely not one with a corset.”
Brad and Angelina
When they go out for a date night they either attend an award show, go to a museum or they step out without the kids for a little Italian! The two of them have been spotted at LA hot spots like La Dolce Vita and Ceccino’s and Alto in NYC . They must be loving living in Venice right now where all the food just happens to be Italian food.
Christiana talked about the importance of date nights with hubby Jordan Bratman saying, “We make sure we have mommy and daddy nights out. Our child comes first, obviously, but there are certain things you can do. Once we know he’s in good hands, we go out late at night and have a few drinks. Then we’ll come home, dim the lights and do our thing!”
Michelle & Barack Obama
Before Barack Obama got really busy with his new job as the President of the United States, Barack and Michelle tried to always find time for a date night…when he was home that is. Michelle told People a while ago that, “Our romantic [time] is almost every Saturday night or Friday night, if he’s home. We spend the day with the girls doing girls’ stuff and that’s a family. Then we have date night, and the girls like it. As parents, you realize they do notice this stuff and it matters. You’re worried about taking time away from the kids to be with each other when, in their minds, that’s a good thing. It’s like, ‘Yeah, Mommy and Daddy, go! Go have dinner; it’s so cute!’ and that makes me feel like, ‘Okay, I don’t feel as bad that, after spending a day together, then we went and had a nice dinner while you had hamburgers with Grandma.'”
Chris O’ Donnell and his wife have five kids, so they know the importance of getting a break. He stated that, “You’ve got to carve out some date nights every now and then. It’s really easy to get so caught up in either the kids or going out with groups and having fun, but surprisingly, you do get time because the kids are done at 8:00. They’re asleep. So from 8:00 on, that’s kind of our time. It’s not the worst thing to stay home on a Saturday night and hang out.”
Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson Wentz
Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson Wentz don’t go far for their date nights. They like to stay in instead of go out. Ashlee told OK! that, “Our date nights are always at home, Pete’s always doing something romantic. We cook for each other, chill, watch TV.”
Melissa Joan Hart
Melissa forgoes the night time dates and likes to have a bit of daytime fun. She told People, “We actually prefer date lunches. Date nights, we’re always tired, and we figure if the kids are in bed then we’re just wasting our time, so we really like lunches. We get the nanny to come over and we go out to lunch and have a blast.”
Jenna Jameson and Tito Ortiz
What do an ex-adult film star and a UFC fighter do for a date night? They get dressed up and go to Koi! At least that’s what they did the other night for a evening out without the kids.
William H Macy
The acclaimed actor, who is married to Felicity Huffman, warns new parents to make sure to make time for their spouse. He said, “When my pals have kids, I look at them and say look, these kids are almost bullet proof. They can take anything, but I tell you what’s on the critical list: your relationship with your wife.’ You’d better make a date and take your wife out within a month whether you want to, or not and you can’t talk about the kid. And you’d better have a romantic weekend within two months because it tears couples apart, these babies do.”
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes
The two tend to mix business and pleasure. Their date nights, the ones we see at least, are of the two going to a Broadway shows, film premieres or industry parties. Pretty, posed and showing their pearly whites for the cameras. Don’t the two ever just go have dinner with each other?
