Show of hands, please. How many of you are sniffling and sneezing as you read this? Or hoping desperately that you don’t catch whatever it is that’s been going around your office or your kids’ school? Or nursing a sick child back to health?
I’m right there with you! I just spent the last week fetching tissues, reading stories, playing Yahtzee and brewing orange-spice herb tea to my second-grader, who was down with the flu and wanted nothing more than to have Mom there at her side virtually 24/7.
Kleenex Brand knows how important it is to feel nurtured when you’re sick (and how much moms love to help their families feel better). With that in mind, the company launched their Softness Worth Sharing initiative.
When you buy specially marked boxes of Kleenex Brand tissues, you get a code you can enter to help send a Kleenex Brand Care Pack to someone who could use a little extra gesture of caring. The pack includes Kleenex Facial Tissues, hand sanitizer, coupons and more.
Even better, the company is giving Special Delivery Packages – delivered by celebrities! – to people in selected North American cities. Go to their Facebook page to nominate someone you know who could use a little TLC.
Brooke Burke-Charvet recently made a delivery to a surprised winner in L.A. That’s her there, ready to hand over the feel-better goodies, including a warm blanket.
“It’s great to be able to bring a little extra care to people,” she told me in a phone interview on the way to the delivery.
Her favorite Kleenex Brand product during this cold and flu season? The Cool Touch tissues, with moisturizers and aloe that soothe noses sore from repeated wiping.
As a mom, Brooke knows a lot about comforting and caring for young ones when they’re sick – and how to keep them from getting sick in the first place. “They’re very good about washing their hands often, and I send them to school with Kleenex tissues,” she says.
But when she was diagnosed with a cancerous nodule on her thyroid not long ago and had to undergo surgery, she was the one who needed her family’s support. And get it she did – from husband David Charvet and her four children, as she rested at home for a month. But now she’s happy to be back on her feet, returning to work and helping others feel better!
