Demi Lovato Getting Help: Disney Show Re-worked While She Recovers in RehabMariaLianos
The creators of the Disney Channel’s sitcom “Sonny With a Chance” are reworking the series while Demi Lovato is in rehab getting help.
As Demi seeks treatment for an eating disorder and other issues, the show’s writers will slightly change the tween series, a Disney Channel spokeswoman confirmed.
The producers will focus on the show-within-a-show, the comedy/sketch/music-variety “So Random!”
It will feature guest stars, comedy sketches, musical performances and digital shorts to the variety show in which Demi portays Allison “Sonny” Munroe, a talented Midwestern girl who joins the ensemble cast.
The temporary fix will allow the show to continue shooting in January even if Demi, 18, is still not available. It’s still unclear when Demi will return, but looks like the show’s producers have a good plan in place in the event that Demi needs more time to recover.
“This allows her the time she needs to get well, without distraction or pressure,” a Disney Channel spokeswoman said.
“Again, we extend our ongoing support to Demi and her family as she works to overcome personal issues.”
