Details On the New Muppets Movie: Kermit, Miss Piggy & The Gang Are Back!

The Muppets!

I don’t know about you, but I love, love, love the Muppets. And it’s a passion I’ve passed onto my kid. So it looks like we are both equally excited about the new upcoming Disney Muppet Movie coming out November 23rd, 2011. Okay, actually, I think I may be a wee bit more excited that she is…and for good reason.

The film was written by the always hilarious and charming Jason Segel along with his frequent collaborator Nicholas Stoller. And this particular Muppet masterpiece is being directed by James Bobin, yes that James Bobin of Flight of the Conchords fame.

So, you might be asking yourself, what goes down in this new take on Jim Henson’s menage of magic Muppets?

From Disney: “On vacation in Los Angeles , Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown , USA , discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. With secret, signature, celebrity cameos, “The Muppets” hits the big screen Nov. 23, 2011. ”

My only wish? That November 23rd could come sooner.
