Did Beyonce REALLY Give Her First Post-Baby Interview?Shana Aborn
Now that the Beyonce Baby Watch is over and the world is richer by one Blue Ivy Carter, everyone’s anxiously awaiting the first postpartum interview with the new mom.
Today, with surprisingly little fanfare, the British UK Star magazine claimed it had gotten an exclusive with Mama Blue herself, citing her quotes on motherhood and Jay-Z’s abilities as a dad.
“Nothing can describe the feeling,” Beyonce supposedly told the mag. “You have the instant connection once you know your child is growing inside you, but when you hold it for the first time, the words can’t be found.”
The article claims she confirmed that Jay was in the delivery room with her at Lenox Hill Hospital. “He would not have missed it for anything,” the quote goes. “He is a very protective husband, and since we found out I was pregnant I have seen the protective father in him.“He is not only an inspirational artist, he is an inspirational husband. I know the next step on his journey is going to be being an inspirational father.”
Not to mention one who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. The interview goes on to say that Jay-Z will “of course” change their daughter’s diapers.
And “of course” this whole interview is on the level.
E!Online did a little digging – very little, it seems. A simple call to Beyonce’s rep resulted in this statement: “Beyonce has not done any interviews. This is fake.”
Come on! Did anyone actually think that the Mom of the Year would casually share her pearls of motherly wisdom to a foreign tabloid without giving the U.S. media outlets first crack? With no PR flacks or photographers close by?
And is Beyonce always this redundant? The whole article (if you bother to read it) is nothing but repetitions of “inspirational” and “loving” and “protective” and “normal” (as in the “normal life” Blue will have). If you’re going to give an important interview, chances are you’re going to rehearse some clever sound bites beforehand.
So this pseudo-exclusive may sell a few more issues on British newsstands, but we folks across the pond are going to hold out for the real thing.
