Did Sesame Street's Bert Come Out On Twitter?

Speculation over the sexuality of Sesame Street’s Bert and Ernie, roommate puppets and best friends, has been around just as long as the show.  But now, because of one Tweet by “Bert,” many believe they’ve found an answer.  Did Bert really come out?

“Ever notice how similar my hair is to Mr. T’s? The only difference is mine is a little more ‘mo,’ a little less ‘hawk’,” he Tweeted.  The use of the word “‘mo” being taken as a coded hint at homosexuality and was picked up by many gay-friendly blog sites.

However, a spokeswoman for Sesame Street said the writer of the post was not “outing” Bert and that he was not gay. “Our writer had no intention of implying anything by the tweet, no agenda and no idea that it would be interpreted any other way except that the ‘A-Team’ movie was out and Bert has, like, a mini-mohawk,” she told Fox News. “Her intention was just a fun way to split up the word just to imply that his hairstyle is a shorter derivative of a longer Mohawk that Mr. T in the A-team wore.”

Sorry everyone. Looks like we’ll have to wait even longer for the real answer.
